'House of Sport' project announced

London Sport ‘House of Sport’ project announced to support collaboration in the sport sector.

London Sport, the organisation dedicated to helping 1,000,000 Londoners to become more physically active by 2020, will next year open a landmark new facility to bring together organisations working in physical activity and sport in the capital.

The ‘House of Sport’ project, occupying a facility a stone’s throw from Borough station in central London, was unveiled at a launch event last month ahead of a proposed opening in Q1 2017.

Offering organisations from across the sector the opportunity to take up permanent, temporary or ad-hoc space in an office environment designed to embed opportunities for collaboration, the project has been dubbed a ‘once-in-a-generation opportunity’ by Peter Fitzboydon, London Sport’s Chief Executive.

Fitzboydon further noted, "This is a landmark opportunity for physical activity and sport in London to come together and share a space that has collaboration and innovation at its core.”

With developments soon to begin on adapting the facility ahead of its opening next year, London Sport are encouraging organisations with an interest in benefiting from the space to submit an expression of interest before 12 September. "The response to the ‘House of Sport’ project has been phenomenal so far, and we are keen to make sure that any organisation that has an interest in being involved has the chance to do so”, Fitzboydon added.

Expressions of interest in the ‘House of Sport’ project can be sent to London Sport through the organisation’s website,
