From this point on, the Community Sport Network team will no longer be sending out articles.

It was established in August 2013 as a free to access news-line on all things happening in Community Sport. It was set up as a small contribution to the legacy of London 2012 which inspired us all and will live long in our memories.

Nearly five years down the track there are now a number of other respected sporting news offerings online, so we thank you for your readership and support which has extended to over 200 countries, and wish you all well in your ongoing efforts to help create a fitter, healthier sporting nation.

Beat the Street are shortlisted for BT Sports Industry Awards 2017!

Beat the Street – Intelligent Health’s innovative walking and cycling initiative – has been recognised for its success in engaging entire communities after being shortlisted for Participation Event of the Year in the BT Sport Industry Awards 2017.

The BT Sport Industry Awards are an annual celebration of the best organisations, events and agencies in the sport and fitness industry. The Participation Event of the Year category highlights activities that have been hugely successful at making sports and physical activity accessible to as many people as possible.

Beat the Street – which engaged more than 300,000 people in 2016 – has been shortlisted alongside: I Am Team GB, Parallel London 2016, parkrun UK, The Colour Run Presented by Skittles and Virgin Money London Marathon.

Dr William Bird MBE – CEO and Founder of Intelligent Health said: "It is a huge honour to see Beat the Street shortlisted alongside such nationally recognisable and successful events and initiatives. 2016 has been an incredible year for the programme which has helped encourage thousands of people across the UK to become active and signpost them into long-term sports and activities.”

Nick Keller, chairman, Sport Industry Group, commented: "The tech revolution continues to march on and sport is benefiting from a proliferation of diverse new start ups, brands and organisations joining the business landscape, bringing with it a swathe of new businesses and talent who recognise that sport has a big part to play.”

The Official Shortlist was selected through an extensive Steering Process involving more than 60 key industry figures across two weeks of intensive judging, and will now go forward for consideration by the main Judging Panel, who will decide the winners in each category.

The awards night, taking place on 27th April,will see over 1,750 major players from the world of sport, business and entertainment come together for an unforgettable night celebrating the standout work from across the sporting world.
