From this point on, the Community Sport Network team will no longer be sending out articles.

It was established in August 2013 as a free to access news-line on all things happening in Community Sport. It was set up as a small contribution to the legacy of London 2012 which inspired us all and will live long in our memories.

Nearly five years down the track there are now a number of other respected sporting news offerings online, so we thank you for your readership and support which has extended to over 200 countries, and wish you all well in your ongoing efforts to help create a fitter, healthier sporting nation.

Bookings open for BHFNC Annual Conference 2013

Booking have now opened for the British Heart Foundation National Centre for Physical Activity and Health (BHFNC) Annual Conference 2013, which takes place on November 21st in Berkshire.


The conference this year will be themed "Time to Change - Understanding and changing physical activity behavior”.


The high-profile conference will take a fresh look at behaviour change research, theory and practice and explore how the latest learning can be applied to the planning of physical activity interventions and behaviours.


It will provide delegates with an insight into current thinking about what influences behaviour change, give guidance on how to use the latest behaviour change research and theory to design evidence-based physical activity interventions.


The one-day gathering will also give delegates ideas and approaches for creating enabling environments for physical activity as well as an awareness of the practicalities and possibilities for changing physical activity behaviours at the individual, environmental and/or policy level.


Confirmed keynote speakers for the event include Professor Eugene Milne of Public Health England, Dr Louise Atkins of University College London, BHFNC executive director Professor Stuart Biddle of Loughborough University and the chair in Physical Activity for Health Professor Nanette Mutrie of Edinburgh University.


The event will be held at the prestigious surroundings of The Mansion House at Wokefield Park in Reading, Berkshire.
