From this point on, the Community Sport Network team will no longer be sending out articles.

It was established in August 2013 as a free to access news-line on all things happening in Community Sport. It was set up as a small contribution to the legacy of London 2012 which inspired us all and will live long in our memories.

Nearly five years down the track there are now a number of other respected sporting news offerings online, so we thank you for your readership and support which has extended to over 200 countries, and wish you all well in your ongoing efforts to help create a fitter, healthier sporting nation.

Thanks for being a part of it!

Eastbourne Extreme, one of the biggest free extreme sporting festivals on the South Coast, returns from July 18-19 with a new bike tour of classic 1980s BMX bikes.

More than 100 riders will head into Eastbourne for the festival. The bike ride will end on Eastbourne seafront, joining the display of classic and retro campervans, along with World Slalom Series inline skating and all of the Surfkraft competitive windsurfing action from the beach.

The free two day festival will bring together a mix of demonstrations, sporting events and have a go fun.The festival also coincides with a brand new Musicfestival - Live, a week-long festival which features a residency at the town’s Underground Theatre, alongside many live bands at Eastbourne Extreme over the two days.

Councillor Margaret Bannister said, "This is a great family friendly sports event, and the addition of these retro BMXs will be a fantastic talking point for keen cyclists, kids and those who grew up in the 80s too.”

On the ground, the Zero Gravity freestyle mountain bike team and MBE BMX team will both be providing jaw-dropping demonstrations of tail whips, back flips and 360s.

Roller derby will also feature at the two day event with the Eastbourne’s Bourne Bombshells challenging teams from all over the country in the only outdoor roller derby tournament in Europe. If skating is more your scene then you can also catch the World Slalom Series which will see skaters battle for the top spot in the hope of representing Great Britain in future championships.

SK8school and Eastbourne Skating Club will be organising many of the give it a try and tuition sessions on the day including the return of roller hockey, street skating and extreme Skate Park ramps. Budding new skaters can also benefit from tuition or marvel at the tricks and freestyle demos taking place.

There is also activities for those who may not be extreme sports fans with Beach Bourne offering a cross fitness challenge for all keen sports men and women.
