Middle age health behaviours analysed
Public Health England (PHE) has compiled data from the Health Survey for England to analyse the prevalence of lifestyle behaviours among middle aged people in England.
In the analysis, figures are presented for the prevalence of people who drink over the Chief Medical Officers' guidelines, being inactive (defined as less than 30 minutes of moderate exercise each week) and being overweight or obese.
The data will be used to support PHE’s One You campaign - a tool to raise awareness of unhealthy lifestyle behaviours among middle aged people.
In addition, data was analysed to reveal the accumulation of risk factors. The percentage of people who had at least one risk factor was 83% and over a third had two or more risk factors.
