From this point on, the Community Sport Network team will no longer be sending out articles.

It was established in August 2013 as a free to access news-line on all things happening in Community Sport. It was set up as a small contribution to the legacy of London 2012 which inspired us all and will live long in our memories.

Nearly five years down the track there are now a number of other respected sporting news offerings online, so we thank you for your readership and support which has extended to over 200 countries, and wish you all well in your ongoing efforts to help create a fitter, healthier sporting nation.

Thanks for being a part of it!

Paralympian Jade retires from competitive sport

0 0
Sochi ski heroines Jade Etherington and her guide partner Caroline Powell have announced their retirement from competitive sport.
Jade who won four medals in Sochi will now concentrate on her career as a geography  teacher of young people. She hopes that their achievements at Sochi will help to inspire others to take up and enjoy skiing in the future.
Caroline will continue her career as a ski instructor in Switzerland.
Like many of her team mates, personal funding has been an issue and a struggle for Jade, this in a week where UK Sport has gone out to public consultation on its future funding strategy, after recent debate and some criticism of its 'no compromise' approach.
The perception that all GB elite athletes are fully funded remains something of a myth it seems.
