From this point on, the Community Sport Network team will no longer be sending out articles.

It was established in August 2013 as a free to access news-line on all things happening in Community Sport. It was set up as a small contribution to the legacy of London 2012 which inspired us all and will live long in our memories.

Nearly five years down the track there are now a number of other respected sporting news offerings online, so we thank you for your readership and support which has extended to over 200 countries, and wish you all well in your ongoing efforts to help create a fitter, healthier sporting nation.

Thanks for being a part of it!

Parkruns popularity and success in Suffolk

0 0
A physical activity revolution is happening in Suffolk thanks to parkrun.

The non-competitive 5km community runs which take place in six locations across Suffolk every weekend have smashed 1,000 weekly runners for the first time.

The parkruns in Suffolk have expanded significantly with weekly runs now held every Saturday morning at 9am in Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds, Kesgrave, Great Cornard and Brandon. A junior run also takes place in Ipswich on a Sunday morning. A seventh Suffolk parkrun is due to launch in Lowestoft soon.

The success of parkrun is largely down to the many volunteers who make parkrun happen and run the local events. Last week alone 188 volunteers supported parkrun in Suffolk.

It's not just Suffolk who have had success with the parkrun - with many runs across the country attracting a keen crowd or runners. With runners receiving a warm welcome - runners of any ability feel comfortable in the friendly atmosphere.
