Latest CSN Articles

From this point on, the Community Sport Network team will no longer be sending out articles.

It was established in August 2013 as a free to access news-line on all things happening in Community Sport. It was set up as a small contribution to the legacy of London 2012 which inspired us all and will live long in our memories.

Nearly five years down the track there are now a number of other respected sporting news offerings online, so we thank you for your readership and support which has extended to over 200 countries, and wish you all well in your ongoing efforts to help create a fitter, healthier sporting nation.

Thanks for being a part of it!

Win FREE mental health first aid training for your coaches!

StreetGames commissioned a piece of pioneering research last year exploring the connections between community sport and young people’s mental health.  The results were promising but lacking in hard evidence.  On the back of the research, a programme is now underway, training coaches and volunteers in Mental Health First Aid, creating peer health champions and setting up referral routes and pathways to enable more young people experiencing mental illness to access local sport.

And now StreetGames, along with ukactive, Mind and Time to Change are keen to hear from organisations that work with young people, offering any kind of sport or physical activity, and that may want support for their own coaches and volunteers with mental health awareness.

If that is you, or an organisation that you know about, please take 10 minutes to complete their survey - or forward the link to your colleagues.  As an extra incentive, there is a prize draw for free Mental Health First Aid training worth over £500.  Someone is going to win it; it could be you!  (Only entries received by 5pm on October 20th will be entered into the draw).
